The Black Sheep Foundation (TBSF) was formed by a group of Washington University and St. Louis University graduates who played rugby together in the mid-1970s. Over the years many of the teammates decided to transition their energy for the sport of rugby into helping children in the greater St. Louis area who are facing serious illness. TBSF was formed in 1998.
Our mission is to generate and distribute funds to organizations that provide care and support for children and their families that are experiencing the trauma of life-threatening diseases.
To date TBSF has contributed to local organizations including Friends of Kids with Cancer, Rankin Jordan, and the Foot Prints program and Cardinal Glennon hospital, donating over $200,000. In 2018 the TBSF has committed to expanding its support to additional worthy organizations including the Ronald MCDonald House, St. Judes’ Center, and the Jackie Smith Foundation. With additional community support and engaging fundraising events, TBSF is committed to raising in excess of $100,000 annually in its support of children in the Greater St. Louis area.
The Black Sheep Foundation is a 501(3)c organization.
Played rugby back in the day with Royals RC and also a player rep, in my old age trying to put a book together about the early days of St. Louis rugby. getting most of my information from the newspaper and trying to remember the old days. Any help with the Sheep starting date and last season played.
I remember the 1983 Championship match, any after that.
Take care,
Jeff
